I am using the beamer document class in latex to make a presentation. For starters, page numbers will appear on all pages which have a page style of plain, headings or myheadings (ie: anything other than empty). usually, the first page contains only a page number as its "headers". The \pagestyle command changes the style from the current page on throughout the remainder of your document. Use fancyhdr as described below. Beamer has a feature that shows the progress through the presentation as {page#}/{total pages} on each slide. The \counterwithout command removes a dependency from a counter and redefines \the’counter’ such that it is printed without the dependency.
